As a culture, with our childhood and adult traumas either not recognized or massively underestimated, they become entombed in a netherworld far beyond the wall we built to protect ourselves. With self-reflection considered anathema in our culture, the disowned and abandoned trauma takes on a life of its own in the background, tripping us up on a regular basis. We don’t notice it because it blends in seamlessly in our distracted and adrenalized lives.
